  1. The one thing I like about your photos is that they are all close ups of individual details. Here are my favorite ones and why ...

"Ready To Spring" - wow! Where was that? But that overwhelming green framed in that red cast is very forceful. That plant from the movie is in focus and the background is blurred. Nice job.

"Here's Blood in your Eye". Composition is great. Very eerie eyes. And you controlled the glowing brightness oft he eyes. This one is my absolute favorite.

"Neptune Snoozing" Ironic that I was teaching my 4th graders the past couple of weeks about the mythical gods. Again, the composition is very good, and the shadows are very subtle. What focal length did you take these? Nice job.

Ready to Spring was just inside the living room when entering from the kitchen. I missed it the first time around, actually fairly large.

  2. Jay,
My favorites are "Ready to Spring". I like the shallow depth of field and I like the plant head against the red wall. Very nice! I also like "Here's the Blood in Your Eye." I like how you got a close up and how its off centered. It gives it a different feel. Very cool!

I'm with Christina and Thomas, Ready to Spring is a great photo. I must have missed that as well. There is a lot going on in the background and it adds to the chaotic feel of the setting.

"Just when you thought.." is similar to one of the images I chose to post too. The crocodile creature really struck me. What kind of post editing did you do if any? I had a lot of fun bringing out the teeth and playing with the contrast so I'm curious.

"Here's blood in your eye" is a great attention to detail. Did you have problems capturing that doll's eyes? I had trouble getting rid of a glare that was coming straight out of eye.

  4. I did very little in post processing "Here's Blood in Your Eye" beyond a pretty severe crop.

I found great irony in the Venus Flytrap set next to the old bed spring. The blurred black flowers (?) in the background serve to add some mystery and mask the proliferation of stuff.

On Just "When you thought" I sharpened and brightened the teeth a little, but mostly I intensified the shadow on the periphery--in part to mask the vignetting from a 12mm shot with wide open aperture. (I think I did most of my post in Adobe Camera Raw.) I goal was to give you a sense of startled fear of this creature jumping out. I retitled this when I posted it in my real blog to "Just When You Thought It Was Safe to Go Out at Night."
